The Collaborative Process
Every project is different, but they each follow a clear, collaborative process designed to make sure your message resonates with Chinese buyers — and that the final copy helps you achieve your business goals.
1. Discovery
Everything begins with a conversation.
We'll meet by Zoom or phone so I can learn about your company, your products, your audience, and the business challenge you're trying to solve. We'll also discuss your goals, timeline, and any internal requirements or approval process.
If it looks like we're a good fit, I'll follow up with a proposal outlining the project scope, schedule, and a firm, flat-rate fee.
2. Project Planning
Once you approve the proposal, we'll finalize a Letter of Agreement that defines the scope of the project, deliverables, timeline, and professional fees.
At this stage, I'll also let you know exactly what background information I'll need — from product literature and technical documentation to existing marketing materials, customer personas, or anything else that will help me understand your business.
3. Research & Strategy
Before I write a single word, I immerse myself in your business.
I review your website, existing collateral, technical information, competitors, and market landscape to understand not only your technology, but what makes it valuable to your customers.
Together, we'll make sure we're aligned on the purpose, audience, and messaging before writing begins.
4. Writing
This is where everything comes together.
I translate complex technical information into clear, persuasive copy that speaks to the needs and priorities of Chinese buyers, distributors, and healthcare decision-makers.
Whether I'm writing a case study, sell sheet, battlecard, executive brief, or thought leadership article, my goal is always the same: to communicate your value clearly, effectively, and in a way that resonates with your audience.
5. Translation Support
Every project is delivered as culturally attuned, translation-ready English copy, written specifically for the China and Taiwan markets.
If you already work with an in-house translation team or preferred language provider, I’ll provide clear, well-structured copy that allows your translators to focus on accurately conveying your message, brand, and technology — rather than having to rework the English first.
If you need translation support, I can also coordinate professional medical translation into Simplified Chinese (for mainland China) or Traditional Chinese (for Taiwan and Hong Kong), providing a streamlined path from English-language copy to publication-ready Chinese-language delivery.
Translation services are optional and quoted separately based on project scope.
6. Review & Refinement
You'll receive a first draft for review, followed by revisions based on your feedback.
Writing is a collaborative process. My goal isn't simply to produce polished copy — it's to produce copy you're excited to put in front of customers.
Legal or regulatory edits are, of course, always accommodated.
7. Final Delivery
Once everything is approved, you'll receive clean, publication-ready copy that can go directly to your designer, sales team, or marketing department.
8. Building the Relationship
Many of my clients begin with a single project and return for additional work as new products launch, trade shows approach, or sales teams need fresh collateral.
Whether we're working together on one project or as part of an ongoing relationship, my goal is to become a trusted extension of your marketing team — not just another freelance copywriter.
